The Third Aldmeri Dominion, colloquially known as the Aldmeri Dominion, was started in the Summerset Isles and was initially an Altmer-exclusive faction. It was started in 4E 22 by the Thalmor faction of the Summerset Isles, and swiftly grew in power. Within a short time, the Dominion had enveloped Valenwood into its territory and has since made incursions into Cyrodiil, Hammerfell, Elsweyr, Skyrim, Black Marsh, and Morrowind. Skyrim forced the Dominion out of its borders for the most part, eventually receiving aid from High Rock in this endeavor. Valenwood and Morrowind willingly joined the Dominion and were accepted into their ranks with relatively open arms, resulting in Morrowind renouncing their Empirical name and returning to their ancestral name of Reldayn. The Bosmer are often enlisted as members of the Ceyatatar, meaning "Shadow of the Fatherwoods", a position reserved for Bosmer hunters and archers. The Dunmer often enlist as Pelinnagaia, meaning "Deathly Knight", which is a position reserved for those individuals skills in both physical and magical warfare. The Dunmer, with their natural facility for Destruction and Conjuration magicks are often ideal for this role and fulfill it quite well. The Argonians, which joined considerably less willingly, have been enlisted as slaves and fodder for their natural regenerative capabilities, as well as their ability to invade from underwater during naval combat.
Summerset Isles - The Summerset Isles are still somewhat of a mystery to non-Altmer, as their borders are closed to non-natives. However, a nigh-constant stream of Altmer pour forth from their borders to fight on behalf of the Dominion, and many of them are highly adept in combat, leading many to believe they have adopted a very militaristic society.
Valenwood - The Valenwood Forest is now closed to all non-Mer as well as Orsimer and excepting Argonians. They have eagerly embraced the Dominion, and Altmer are often seen walking the foliage-lined streets of the Forest, patrolling or exploring. The Bosmer have begun adopting a more warlike mindset, and have begun training their people in the way of stealth, combat, archery, and assassination on a more regulated basis, expounding upon their natural affinity to these things. Many Bosmer join the Dominion's ranks as Ceyatatar, or "Shadow of the Fatherwoods". The Ceyatatar are referred to in the common tongue as "Man Hunters" due to their their targets being Imperials, Bretons, Nords, and Redguards.
Reldayn - Reldayn, formerly known as Morrowind, still accepts most travelers into their borders. However, an Imperial is as likely to get a piece of bread as a dagger in the kidney. Having embraced the Dominion happily at House Indoril's urging, they have prospered greatly from their new allies and allegiance. Between having developed a new magick which only Dunmer and Chimer may use, Aradorian Magick, or Ash Magick, and having recently returned to and begun reestablishing their homeland, things are looking up for the Reldayni. They generally join the Dominion's ranks as Pelinnagaia, or "Deathly Knights". Pelinnagaia are more commonly referred to as Dark Knights due to it being mostly populated by Dunmer.
Elsweyr - After the Aldmeri expanded into Elsweyr, the Khajiiti kingdoms of Anequina and Pelletine were abolished and replaced with the Elsweyr Confederacy. The Khajiiti are free peoples under the banner of the Dominion, and many decline offers to join the Dominion's military, preferring to travel freely or guard their own borders. The Khajiiti have experienced an increase in prosperity and wealth, as their affiliation with the Dominion offers them a chance to sell products freely all throughout the Dominion's borders. They are often used as paid couriers to transport product, or will even freely purchase and resell products throughout much of the Dominion. They are looked down upon by most of the Dominion for their not being Mer, but are not treated with hostility and are not banned from entering or trading within cities and other major establishments within the Dominion.
Black Marsh - Black Marsh, locally known as Argonia, was conquered by the Aldmeri Dominion, and its people are used as slaves. Only two cities in Black Marsh have escaped control, those being Archon and Gideon, for different reasons. Archon has avoided being conquered due to the presence of a multitude of Dark Brotherhood sanctuaries hidden there, including a Shadowscale training facility. Although their locations are hidden, their presence is well known. The current leaders of the Aldmeri Dominion each received a letter from someone signed "Nightmane", detailing the location of their homes, their families, their daily routines, and what they had planned for dinner that night. It also detailed the fact that if the Dominion attempted to lay claim to the city of Archon in Black Marsh, that they might find their Dominion drastically and swiftly diminishing in safety, authority, prestige, and size. Finally, the last line read "PS, You may or may not be aware of this fact, but Nightmane wishes to remind the Aldmeri Dominion of Lord Sithis' adoration for regicide. Nightmane hopes to see you very soon in Archon, that Nightmane may send gifts to Lord Sithis." Gideon has avoided being due to its high walls and tight security, and thus has been a haven for free Argonians for several years now.
